Women in Business - Profiles
Some examples of women who have benefited from the support their organizations have provided them are as follows:
Elizabeth - Introducing a New Vision
Elizabeth is the newly appointed Head of Marketing for a global financial services company. Her mandate is to change the paradigm of how the employees of the company view customer relationships and service in order to more effectively cross-sell products and become a one stop shop for potential and existing customers. She will need to communicate and sell to the executive management team a whole new way of looking at the sales cycle.
Elizabeth's boss is concerned about her ability to move the new vision forward. There has been a history in the company of resistance to change, and there are stakeholders who are strongly invested in the old silo approach to sales and customer service.
Martha - Moving the Company Forward
Martha is the Chief Financial Officer of a rapidly growing privately held company considering going public in the next few years. Her success thus far has been due to her attention to costs, astute forecasting skills and innovative approach to financial management.
She has developed few contacts in the public investment community and is relatively unknown to her peers. Unaccustomed to getting out of the office and networking, Martha is unsure of her ability to take the company to the next stage of growth and capitalization.
Donna - Changing Old Perceptions
Donna is the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at an international insurance company that recently merged with a larger organization. She was appointed to the position a year ago. She is the only senior executive woman in the company.
She wants to portray confidence while standing firm in her decisions during this time of significant change in her organization. She is concerned, however, that she may be perceived as too aggressive or inflexible by the new management team.
