The Next Skills-Building Offsite is September 30, 2010!

Leading Up for Women of African Descent is a 6-month coaching process that helps organizations prepare its next generation of women leaders of African descent. Utilizing our extensive research The Leader's Edge/Leaders By Design developed this unique protocol to address the discreet issues and challenges women of African descent face as they rise through the ranks. Tailored to align with the specific needs that emerged through our research findings, our powerful assessment and coaching processes will support high-performing women of African descent to build their leadership skills, identify successful strategies to overcome workplace challenges, and enhance their overall effectiveness.

Leading Up for Women of African Descent is:

• Research-based process designed to address the specific and unique barriers women of color face in the workplace
• Validates experiences of women of color in understanding the variation of traditional rules of development
• Takes long term implementation oriented focus that goes far beyond just assessment and training
• Combats experience of isolation as women of color advance
• Builds a supportive cross-industry community of similarly situated women to extend, expand, and deepen operational, personal and strategic networks

This  process addresses the unique issues women of African descent face through both one-on-one coaching sessions and in the skills-building Off-site session with other women of color.  Each participant meets with her personal coach several times monthly to discuss progress against her goals and action steps.  Each participant creates a Professional Development Plan that the participant and coach discuss with her manager to gain support.  The participant and coach also discuss how to enhance her key stakeholder relationships to achieve business results and maximize her performance.
